The Power of Authentic Communities

The chaotic, fast paced, transient, and individualistic culture of our cities results in many people feeling fragmented, lonely and isolated. Compounded by the prevalence of social media and virtual connections, many long for authentic relationships and a sense of rootedness.

Everyday believers can offer real hope to a lonely culture as we live and minister interdependently. This track explores what it takes to build a community shaped by the presence of Jesus. It will present real models of dynamic Christ-like communities within the marketplace, in urban neighborhoods, and among young adults that are touching lives and bringing transformation.

This Track is for Ministry Leaders who desire to model their faith and empower believers as they band together where they live, work, and play throughout our cities.

Lausanne is a global movement that mobilizes evangelical leaders to collaborate for world evangelization. It grew out of the 1974 International Congress on World Evangelization convened in Lausanne, Switzerland by Rev. Billy Graham and Bishop Jack Dain. The Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization (October 2010) in Cape Town, South Africa brought together 4200 Christian leaders, representing 198 countries. The resulting Cape Town Commitment (www.lausanne.org/ctcommitment) serves as the blueprint for the Movement’s activities. Lausanne is convening four to five Consultations each year around the issues articulated in The Cape Town Commitment. More information is available at www.lausanne.org.
