Forbidden Doors Christian Horror Film

Best-selling Author Bill Myers Newest Project

Los Angeles – Amaris Media Int. is producing a Christian horror film based upon Bill Myers’ “Forbidden Doors” book series, which won a C.S. Lewis Honor Award. Why Christian horror? Company vice president, Peggy Medberry said, “With the rise of so many supernatural books and films, we felt it was time to enter the arena and set the record straight regarding the real power of God.”

The movie deals with two teens who return to California from the Amazon mission field only to discover their classmates, in fact the entire town, is caught up in occult activity. Armed with only their understanding of Scripture, and learning as they go, the brother and sister battle against the forces of darkness to eventually set the captives free.

Instead of the more conventional source of finding financers, the company has chosen to use Kickstarter, a crowd funding approach where people can help by donating as little as five dollars. When asked why, Myers, a veteran of several successful Christian productions including Focus on the Family’s video series, “McGee and Me” said, “We felt God would be more glorified if the whole body of believers worked together to make this happen. Kind of a family thing.” The Kickstarter campaign which can be found here  http://kck.st/1rdb4UI will run until November 16. If the goal of $400,000 is not reached by that date, all money will be returned to the participating donors.amaris

Atheist Lawsuit Fueled by Evolution

Evolution vs God

New film explores whether evolution is based on fact or faith

In a lawsuit brought by atheist parents, the Massachusetts Supreme Court will decide if the mere mention of God in America’s Pledge of Allegiance violates the state’s Equal Rights Amendment. A filmmaker sees this case as one more example of society’s battle against God—driven in large part by a belief in evolution. The story covered recently on CNN and FOX News as well as other networks stirs the debate.

According to Ray Comfort, the producer of the new film Evolution vs. God, “Our country’s Declaration of Independence specifically states that all men are ‘created’ and that they are endowed ‘by their Creator’ with basic human rights. Yet there is an ongoing effort in society to eliminate the very idea that we have a Creator. We did not evolve from pond scum, but were made in the image of God.”

While others are debating whether “under God” makes the pledge into a prayer, or whether the pledge is religious, historical, or just patriotic, the real issue, says Comfort, is whether there actually is a God. “That’s the question we should be discussing. And the answer impacts far more than whether we recite two words. It affects every aspect of our lives.”

In Evolution vs. God, Comfort interviewed scientists at top universities, asking for observable evidence of Darwinian evolution. The result is an eye-opening film that claims to “debunk” evolution. “Children are being deceived into believing that things we can observe today—like adaptation, DNA, and fossils—are proof of evolution when they are not.” These issues and more are explained in a Companion Guide to the video.

“When children are taught there is no God who created them,” Comfort adds, “they deny a moral standard established by the Creator. The consequences on society are enormous—as the nightly news attests.”

New Studio for Film and Storytelling

New Film Studio

CEO Santorum Plans Aggressive Production Strategy

rick-santorumFormer U.S. Senator Rick Santorum announced he is the new CEO of EchoLight Studios during a press conference at the International Christian Retail Show in St. Louis, MO, today. Along with the announcement he revealed an aggressive strategy to produce and distribute high-quality films that reflect Christian world views, and a commitment to Christian stores as a key distribution partner.

EchoLight President Bobbie Downes announced a partnership with Liberty University to develop a filmmaker mentoring program and a state of the art studio at the Christian university. Santorum said a $20 million investor fund has been developed to support Christian arts, and a $1 million filmmaker prize winner will be announced this summer to stimulate excellent filmmaking.

CBA sales data shows that DVDs sold through Christian stores increased 27% from 2010 to 2012. Santorum said Christian stores are trusted partners to distribute quality content not only to Christians but to the general public, which desires this kind of content.

Santorum said films will include stories with overt Christian themes, and some won’t be overt. He said films shouldn’t be preachy, but authentic, and true stories will be a primary source for storytelling.
