Snippets of Jim Denison’s interview on Point of View:
“I am honored to be part of Greater Dallas Movement Day in January 2014. This is a timely gathering of serious-minded Christians who see the need for the church to engage the city and the culture. The day will encourage like-minded pastors, mission agency leaders, marketplace leaders, and governmental leaders to engage each other. What we do together here will not only impact Dallas, but will create a template for other world class cities to engage the culture with the gospel.”

The vision is to unite the faith community of Greater Dallas to make measurable progress in the transformation of the region. We seek both spiritual and social transformation.
Our plan is to convene and collaborate with the faith community from all quadrants of Greater Dallas. We are also partnering with The New York City Leadership Center and drawing upon the experience and intellectual capital of Dr. Tim Keller, Senior Pastor, Redeemer Presbyterian Church and Dr. Mac Pier, Founder and CEO, The New York City Leadership Center.
Greater Dallas Movement Day will take place on January 23, 2014 at the Dallas Convention Center with Tim Keller as a keynote speaker. Dallas leaders will be invited to form strategies and to collaborate in addressing the greatest spiritual, social and humanitarian issues of the city.
These include the following sobering statistics:
97% fatherlessness rate in South Dallas;
85% non-readiness of 18-year olds for college;
The highest number of refugees in the nation of any city;
Sharp declines in spiritual interest among young people.
The strategy is to identify like-minded Dallas leaders who desire to design, mobilize and invest in a strategy that will impact Dallas. An initial meeting with Mayor Rawlings indicates the desire of the governmental community to engage as well. Specifically, we envision the development of an educational initiative emerging from Greater Dallas Movement Day to mobilize churches to engage the great educational divide.
The result of Greater Dallas Movement Day will be the creation of specific plans to accelerate or incubate best practices to address these issues. Greater Dallas Movement Day will also be conducted in collaboration with the Movement Day New York City which will host leaders from 400 cities in October 2013.
