“The Last Hunger Season” tells the story of an African farm community on the brink of change. Meet Zipporah, and hear her Christmas meal miracle. For more info, click here.
Zipporah Biketi is desperate to try anything new that will increase her harvest and help feed her four children. Her youngest, two-year-old David, is often sick and shows all the signs of malnourishment. Her last harvest was meager, yielding less than two bags of maize that lasted only a couple of months. Her hunger season began before Christmas. She must now buy her maize for ever-escalating prices; as the prices increase, her purchases decrease, and the number of meals shrink. She and her husband and children live in a small hut with a thatched roof that leaks when it rains. She is hoping for nothing less than a miracle.
